Headed To Seattle

{Source}
It's early.  So early it's still dark out and I've already been up for an hour!  *yawn*

But there's a good reason for being such an early bird!

Today is Friday...and we're going to Seattle.  Not sure how long it will take us, but generally speaking, I'm within an hour to downtown.  Gotta get an early start because...

This weekend is Women of Faith!!  I get to spend two days laughing, crying, singing, worshiping and being inspired with thousands of other women and my BFF!  I'm excited! :)

I'll tell you all about it when I get back, but if you want to keep up with our antics, I'll be tweeting!

Until we return...

Have a great weekend!

"Punkin Head"

As an update to Kyle's weekend project, here is "Punkin Head" and the process to get him where he is.

Kyle has been working on this for the past couple of weeks and if we'd actually get some nice weather when Kyle's not working, it might actually get on the house.

So if you saw the original post, you basically just saw two pieces of plywood lying on the floor with Kyle drawing the pumpkin.

Since then this is what happened:

Painted it orange...
Nice rough cut...
Then he taped it off to do the black...
Got the black all done...
Over the next few days, he drilled about a million holes!  The eyes are gonna have lights and the mouth.  But the mouth has about 4 or 5 different shapes so that took Kyle a lot longer to do than the eyes did.

On a separate night, we started putting the lights in.  I only helped with this part a little bit.  This whole thing has been Kyle's project.  This night was a bit frustrating because once we got the lights hot-glued into their holes, half of the string of lights decided not to work.  Thankfully my hub is a genius so he was able to make them work again!
VOILA!!
This is going to be synchronized to music and the eyes and mouth will move with the music so it'll look like the "Punkin Head" is singing and blinking.
Hopefully we'll be able to get this on the house asap, especially since Halloween is Monday!  Eek!

Not For The Faint Of Heart

{Source}
Remember a few months ago I told you that Kyle and I had started doing hot yoga?  And I told you that I was going to tell you all about it and then I did what I do too often, which is NOT tell you about it because I'm a lousy blogger?

Well, guess what?

I'm going to tell you about it.

Today.

I know.  You're shocked out of your minds!

I'm telling you about it today for a couple of reasons.

1.  It's a cold, crisp, Fall day and I wish I could be in that room, just to lay down and take a nap because it's HOT in there and it would just feel oh so good right about now.

2.  I need to lose weight.  I've been saying that for a long time but I seriously do.  And if I was doing hot yoga today, at least I would feel like I was at least attempting to lose it by sweating some of it off.

First of all, how did Kyle and I even get started doing hot yoga?

Well, there was a Living Social deal that came up one day a few months ago.  It was 20 sessions for $20.  The day that it came up, I happened to be spending part of the day with one of my BFF's.  I told her about the deal and how I was thinking about doing it.  She told me that she'd done it before {and if I remember, she amended that statement to saying she did it ONE TIME} and that she'd heard it was a great way to lose weight because you just sweat it off.  Well, being that I'll take any help in losing the weight that I can, I jumped on it right then and there in her kitchen.  She didn't need to say anything else.  But I could only buy one on my account so later when I got home, I signed Kyle up and bought one for him too.

Oh, you're wondering if this is something Kyle would even WANT to do?

In the past, I would've thought no way in HELL would my husband do hot yoga!

HOWEVER, as unbelievable as it seems, especially if you know my Macho Man of a hub, Kyle had been getting up at 5:30 in the morning for several weeks to do yoga on his own downstairs.  He wanted me to do it with him but there was no way I was getting up that early in the morning when I didn't have to!  I like my sleep thankyouverymuch!

I told Kyle what I did sometime during the day and he didn't object.

I also told my SIL about this deal and her and her hub also bought it.

They happened to try it out the very next day.

I tried it out a couple days later {and Kyle the next week or so}.

Since Heidi and Chad tried it out first, I told her to give me the lowdown so I'd know what to expect.

She said to bring a yoga mat, towel and water.  I asked her what we should wear.  She said that there were people there in their bikinis!  Yeah, so not happening.  Heidi wore capris, a sports bra and a shirt over that.  That was pretty much what I had intended to wear.  Chad wore shorts and a t-shirt.  Cool.  Kyle would be good to go as well.

When we got there on that first day we signed in at the front desk.  Then we put all of our belongings in the little cubbies they had in the front, including our shoes.  Totally grossed me out having to walk around with no shoes on, but that was the rules.

After the room cleared out from the previous session, we moved on in and set up our little "station" at the back of the class, near the door.  There's no talking in the class so we laid out our mats and towels and laid on our backs with our feet towards the back wall.  {Apparently that's the correct yoga etiquette.}  Oh, did I forget to mention that Heidi forgot to tell me I should bring a FULL size towel and I had only brought a HAND towel?  Yeah, I felt like an dork with my little towel. LOL

Pretty soon the instructor came in and she started calling out names to see who was who.  The class was pretty full but Heidi said that it was PACKED the night before since it was the first day after people had purchased the deal.

As the class got going the instructor saw my little towel and she went and got me a full sized one that they normally rent for $2 each.  I guess she felt sorry for me.  But let me tell you, that full sized towel was MUCH needed!

Each session begins with a set of breathing techniques.  I'm thinking, alright.  This is kind of hard but I can do it.  You're basically supposed to fill your lungs with air completely and then let it out slowly and completely.  It's not easy!  And you're already sweating by this time.

I suppose I should probably tell you that the room is 105 degrees with 60% humidity.  Yeah.  HOT.   And you do this for 90 minutes!  Shoot me now!

I should probably also tell you that I don't like to sweat normally.  However, I'm ok with it when I'm exercising.  Cuz that's what you're supposed to do, right?!

Anywho, so we're starting with the breathing.  It's doable.  I'm breathing.  I'm sweating.  I don't want to pass out yet.  Good.

We move onto more poses.  Each pose is done two times.

Here are the poses.  They're posted above the mirrors in the "Hot Room" so you can see how much further you have to go which pose is next.

I started going to this yoga class shortly after my car accident so there were some poses that I just didn't want to push myself on, for instance, the one where you bend all the way back.  I tried going back a little and it made me dizzy and nauseous doing that so I would just bend back a little bit after that.

So the first couple of poses are fairly easy.  Bend your body back and forth.  Bend back, back, back.  Fold yourself in half with your head touching your knees {YEAH RIGHT!}.  But then it just gets crazy.  Sit yourself in a chair pose and balance.  Uhhh...by this time my body was just shaking!  And I was slightly nauseous.  Good luck standing on your TOES and balancing yourself while sitting like you're a chair!  Then you're supposed to make yourself stand like an eagle.  It's doable but I was so dripping wet with sweat by this time that it was almost impossible to grab my elbows / arms!  All this time, I was watching myself in the mirror.  I was looking around to see if I was the only one that wasn't able to do these poses.  I was thinking to myself that it's a good thing I wasn't the only one that looked like a complete idiot.

However, I was also looking at all of these experienced yogis and wondering how the hell they can BEND THAT WAY!!

I've got pretty good balance, or so I thought.  When we were supposed to balance ourselves standing up, but bent over flat so we look like a 'T'?  I came to realize how NOT good at balancing I am!

While I was able to keep up with a lot of this, there were times where I just had to kneel down on my mat or lay on my back for a few minutes.  There were a few poses that I just could NOT do.  And these were just the poses standing up!

After we molded ourselves into a "Tree" {which I could NOT do, but Kyle could. Whodathunkit?!}, we moved to the floor poses.

{Yoga pose pics were borrowed from Bikram Yoga Everett}
Some of these made me more nauseous than the standing poses!

After each pose, we had to turn to our back and lay there for 20 seconds.  I'm telling you, that was almost harder than doing the poses!  Having to lay down then get back up then lay down and get back up over and over!

By this time, the towel on my mat is soaked!  I'm dripping sweat from places I didn't know COULD sweat, like my shins for instance!  One day, while I was bent over and upside down, I looked over and saw a guy that's shorts were so wet with sweat they were dripping from the bottom of the shorts legs!  There's a reason why people wear as little as possible!  Although, there are the people that are wearing barely anything that you wish would put just a little something more on because, really, I don't want to be starring at your bare ass cheek for 90 minutes!

About an hour in, I was starting to really pay attention to those poses that are at the top of the wall to see how many more poses I was going to have to suffer through.  It's SO DAMN HOT in there that, honestly, I could've laid down and died right then and there!  I don't remember how many classes in I was, but there was one day in particular where I had to GET OUT OF THERE!  NOW!  I couldn't breathe.  I thought I was going to pass out.  I went in the bathroom and I was already soaking wet so it didn't matter what I did, I went to the sink and starting splashing water all over myself.  On my face, on my head, on my chest and back and arms.  I HAD to cool myself down ASAP!!  Sweet Relief!

It makes a HUGE difference in what you've had to eat and drink on the days that you do hot yoga!  They recommend that you not eat 3-4 hours prior to class and that you drink tons of water during the day.  I'm really bad about drinking water so on the days that we were going to go, I'd try to get water in me but more often then not, a couple of hours before we went I'd be downing water as fast as I could.  As our sessions were coming to an end, I did end up finding these drinks that really seemed to help both Kyle and me.  They were kind of gross tasting but if I bought them ahead of time and was able to freeze them for a bit it helped with the taste.

We didn't end up using all 20 of our sessions because we just ran out of time {we had to use them within 60 days of the first day we went}.  Even though I thought I was going to DIE some days, it honestly was a great workout!  It was something that Kyle and I could both do together and I think if we had continued to do it we would've gotten into great shape!  Unless we find another deal, we won't be going back though.  For both of us to continue going it would be about $1000 a year, which we just don't have!

So, there ya have it!  My experience with Hot Yoga!  I didn't die, but I wanted to!  It's definitely not for the faint of heart, so be warned!  A great, but torturous experience!

I look like a complete FREAK but HELLO!  I made it through!!
This was after my first class.

Truth About Trying

A few months ago I was contacted by someone at Redbook Magazine.

Yeah.  Shocked would be an accurate way to describe how I felt.

Someone from a magazine wanted to talk to me.  And not just ANY magazine but a popular one.  One that thousands of women read.  One that's been around for a gazillion years.

At first I thought it might be spam, because again, someone from a magazine wanted to talk...to ME?!

As I read on though, this person told me that she had read my blog and thought that I would be perfect for a campaign the magazine was going to launch in a bit.

A campaign to bring awareness to infertility.

Well, yes, I certainly know something about that.

The thing was, though, that she wanted me to make a video.

Scary!

I've always said that I would NEVER, EVER make a vlog.

I don't want to see myself on video.  Seriously.

I don't like the way that I sound and watching myself on a video is just...*cringe* TERRIFYING!

She told me that she'd like it to be both Kyle and me in the video if that was something we could do, but if it was just me that would be perfectly fine, too.

I told Kyle about this whole thing and asked him if he'd do it with me.  He was non-committal.

So I told this lady that, yes, as scared as I was to do it, I WOULD do it, with or without Kyle.

There was a questionnaire of sorts that she wanted me to fill out, so I did that pretty quickly.  Then it was time to start thinking about the video.

Aaahhhhhh!!!!

Thankfully, she told me that I still had a little bit of time till she and her editor would need it so I could breath for a little bit and think about how I wanted to do the video and what I wanted to say.  She gave me a starting point, too, so that was nice.

Believe me when I tell you that I left this to the very last second.  And the video that I did, oh boy.  I can't even tell you how many "takes" I did.  First it was too long.  Then I couldn't stop stumbling over my words.  Then I just looked like a total DORK.  But I just had to send something so it was the very last "take" before I left for work.  Done.  Like it or not, it was going.

In the video, I talk about what it's like to find out that you're infertile when you're in your 20's.  If I had more time {they only wanted about 3 minutes} there's so much more that I could've said.

Really though, infertility {and finding out you're infertile, no matter when / what age it is} is such a personal thing.  It's different for each and every person.

Being the non-emotional, non-crier that I am, I often bottle up my feelings till just the right thing sets me off and I become a blubbering mess.  {This actually happened recently and I'm still trying to figure out what I want to say about it.}

As I say in the video, we DO go out and live our lives, but that's not to say that I don't have my down moments.  I definitely do.  But usually my emotion comes out as anger and bitterness rather than sadness and tears.

The thing is, though, that if I let the 9 years that we've been trying completely get me down, *I* {not saying everyone} would be a boring, depressed soul and that's not how I want to live my life.

I love to laugh and have fun and I don't WANT to sit around depressed all the time.  So I have to find the good in life.

Everyone deals with their infertility in completely different ways.  I just hope that me being a part of this "Truth About Trying" Infertility Campaign helps someone out there to realize that there still are happy times to be had despite being infertile.

WDW Vacation Recap - Part 3 - Epcot

Alrighty!  Back to the vacation recaps.  I need to get these all done before too much more time passes!

So, if you missed the previous recaps, here is Part 1 and Part 2.

We spent the next day at Epcot.  Four years ago when we went to Florida / Disney World, the last day we were there is the day that we went to Epcot so it was kind of a rushed trip since we had to get to the airport.  This time, we got to spend the entire day there and really enjoy it.

I don't remember if I said anything about this before, but my BIL Tyler had a friend come from Kansas for part of the trip.  He came in late late late on Monday {I think} and left really early on Saturday.  He's the "one of these does not belong" people in our pictures. He was a ton of fun to have on the trip though.  We were sad to see him leave.  But he's a college student and had to get back to classes.

{Just a disclaimer:  It was HOT and HUMID while we were there.  Like in the 80/90's and about 94% humidity.  I did NOT have good hair while we were there, unfortunately.  So that's why it looks like crap 99% of the time.  Just sayin. LOL}

And one more thing before I move onto the pictures.  I'm planning on writing a post JUST on food and eating gluten-free while at Disney.  It was a GREAT experience!  But that's why there are no food pictures.  Saving them all for that post. ;0)

Our previous trip didn't allow us time to ride all the rides as well as explore all that Epcot has to offer, but this time we got to go in the ride that is inside the big ole Epcot ball.  I don't think I realized there WAS a ride inside of it last time.

Anyway, it was fun.  Not a fast ride at all.  It takes you through the evolution of technology so that was kind of cool to see.

At the beginning of the ride though, you choose on the screen where you're from and a few other things and then it takes a picture of you, and I totally cheese-balled it, as you'll see.  At the end of the ride this happens:

So funny to see our "Future".  It was kind of like being in The Jetson's.

I like this ride, but it still kind of freaks me out when it's going through everything and then when it goes over 500 mph, eek! Yes, I scream.  A LOT.

For this trip, my MIL pre-paid for the Disney PhotoPass so in all the Disney parks we took advantage of having the photographers take our picture when ever we could.  At Epcot, I think we were in "China" or some place like that, the photographer was too funny.  He had me stand on a bench and wrap my arms around Kyle.  He was calling me "Queen" and Kyle "King" and he kept saying "Happy Family, you Happy Family."  He made us laugh.

This mime was hilarious!  He was a blast to watch because he had so many tricks that he could do.  He was only "speaking" with a whistle but you totally understood everything he was "saying".  It was kinda cool.

{The poor dude has some serious B.O. though!  LOL  Definitely didn't want to stand too close to him! But he was in a hot outfit in the scorching sun so you couldn't really fault him for it.}

I think this was probably my favorite part of this day.

Before when we were here, none of us remember this being here.  SO, we stood around in "Japan" for a bit watching the hilarious little Japanese girly doing her song and dance about these oysters and pearls.  She made a big deal out of the person choosing their oyster and then she had you repeat after her counting "1 - 2 - 3" in Japanese.  I couldn't tell you what we said now, though.  Anyway, so Chad decided he was going to pay the $14.95 for Heidi to choose an oyster.

Then I talked Kyle into getting the ticket for me to do it too.  He's like, "But you don't even wear pearls!"  I told him that didn't matter.  I REALLY wanted to do this and because he loves me so, he sucummed to my pressure. Heehee.

I chose the PERFECT oyster!
Then I repeated "1-2-3" and voila!  She found my pearl!  Oh, but wait.  Not just ONE pearl.  I got TWO pearls!  She said I was VERY lucky because only 10-15% of oysters have more than one pearl!
You can't really see them, but they're in the salt.
Us girlys and our pearls!  Heidi's was 7.5 mm.
Twins!  I "had" identical twins!
When I told my mom she told me that when I asked God for twins I should've been more specific. LOL
I had them made into earrings.

Here we are in "Canada" and we found some moose hats.  Since we collect moose, we couldn't resist.
{We didn't buy them though.}
This is funny.

So, on Memorial Day we were at the outlet mall for the sales.  If you remember, my FIL wanted to buy us all shoes.  He's goofy that way but we don't complain.

While we were walking around, I had seen someone that had camel toe.  I whispered to my MIL about it and SHE HAD NO IDEA what "camel toe" is.  So, being the informative daughter-in-law that I am, I had to explain to her what was what.

Now, here we were in Epcot in "India" or something and there's a camel:

And a toe:

And that equals: Camel Toe.

SHE, my MIL, told me to take a picture of this!  Gotta love her!

Here we are in "France" and Kyle is wearing a beret and spinning another beret like a pizza.  Can you see it in the air?

There's thousands of Mickey heads hidden all around the Disney parks.  I guess some people get really into finding them.  We just happened upon this one.
NEMO!!!  Lots of Nemo's!
We got to see the light show this time!  It was SO COOL!!  Loved it!

The photographer told them to act unimpressed.

Epcot was so much fun!  We all enjoyed ourselves and talked about going back for another day, but ultimately that didn't happen.

Next up:  Magic Kingdom {we spent 3 days there.}
