--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An elderly man in Phoenix calls his son Bob in New York and says, “I hate to ruin your day, but your mother and I are divorcing. Forty-five years of misery is enough! I’m sick of her, and I’m sick of talking about this, so call your sister in Boston and tell her,” and then hangs up.

The son frantically calls his sister, who goes nuts upon hearing the news.

She calls her father and yells, “You are not getting a divorce! Bob and I will be there tomorrow. Until then, don’t do a single thing, do you hear me??”

The father hangs up the phone, turns to his wife, and says, “It worked! The kids are coming for a visit, and they’re paying their own way!”

~~~~~
A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically,
"Relatives of yours?"
"Yep," the wife replied, "in-laws.”
~~~~~

A boy was assigned a paper on childbirth and asked his parents "how was I born?"

"Well honey…" said the slightly prudish parent, "the stork brought you to us."

"OH," said the boy. "Well, how did you and daddy get born?" he asked.

"Oh, the stork brought us too."

"Well how were grandpa and grandma born?" he persisted.

"Well darling, the stork brought them too!" said the parent, by now starting to squirm a little in the Lazy Boy recliner.

Several days later, the boy handed in his paper to the teacher who read with confusion the opening sentence: "This report has been very difficult to write due to the fact that there hasn't been a natural childbirth in my family for three generations."

Frag, Frag, Fragalicious!!!

It's Friday and I've had quite the week.

I've stuck my foot in my mouth a couple times and I've just got some stuff to get out of the jumbled brain of mine. Join in!!

~~~~~~~
On Monday morning, I was laying in bed and I decided to send a text to my friend. I was upset from the night before when I looked at my grades online and saw that I'd gotten a zero on an assignment from my health class. So I typed my text:
Hey, you're probably on your way to Seattle {for her first day of her externship that ended up getting changed to next week} but did you see that Jeannie posted our grades for DB1? I got an F'in 0. Yeah 0. Fock! So pissed! She's been emailed.
**Yeah, I "swore". Shoot me. It happens occasionally, I'm not perfect and I've never claimed to be.
But then I realized right away that I sent that to my MOTHER-IN-LAW!!!
So then I said:
OOPS!! Wrong person! IGNORE!!
My MIL texts back:
Well, I'm not on my way to Seattle but I did see the text.
I text back:
Just pretend you didn't!
Her response:
I'll give it the old girl scout try!!
D'OH!! Of course I had to have mistakenly sent to my MIL!! Gah!!
{Later in the day I got a response from the teacher that said for some reason I didn't show up in her grade book as having posted but she did see in the discussion board that I did, in fact, complete the assignment. 24/25. Whew!}
~~~~~~~

Yesterday I had the first exam in my psychology class. The teacher has been there a whole 2 times in the three weeks we've been in class. We've had subs for the other class times. And yesterday, we had another sub to administer the exam.

She hands out the exam and it's a PACKET of papers! There were 55 questions, almost all ESSAY!!!

We were all freaking out.

Seriously?

55 ESSAY QUESTIONS.

And he said the same. damn. thing. in every. frickin. question.

In a clear, concise manner, explain in paragraph form blah blah blah...

He wanted us to draw diagrams of a woman's inner genitalia and how menstruation and fertilization works {I'm not joking}!

He wanted us to draw a diagram of how identical and fraternal twins are fertilized.

And he wanted diagrams for some other things too.

I was about this >< close to crying.

We had to answer and then explain every frickin answer.

I didn't have a damn clue about most of them!

There was one question that I came to and I was just so frustrated that I just wrote what came to mind and I was going to erase it before I turned it in but I forgot so he gets my gut reaction:

I don't know who these guys are. I'm guessing they're scientists. I don't remember everything I read!! Sorry!!

We'll see what he thinks of THAT answer. *snicker*

I also had another smart ass answer for one of the diagram questions. I didn't give him a diagram. I just said that woman have periods every month and if they're lucky an egg will get fertilized and implant in the endometrium. He probably won't like that answer either.

~~~~~~~
I got a progress report form from the unemployment office last week that I completely forgot about until about 9pm last night. It was DUE back to the unemployment office by the 28th. Ugh! I have no idea what to do about that now. Guess I'm gonna have to try to find a phone number since they don't provide one on the form.
~~~~~~~

I'm trying to think of non-school related things but my brain is just fried.

~~~~~~~
I've slowly been working on the 31 Days to a Better Blog challenge from SITS and ProBlogger and it's kicking my butt. I'm excited to do it but at the same time it feels like more homework that I don't have time for. *sigh*
~~~~~~~

I didn't want to but I've gotten sucked into So You Think You Can Dance. Dangit! Just another show I can't stop watching! LOL

~~~~~~~
Are you a Real Housewives watcher? Are you going to watch Real Housewives of D.C.? I am and I will. I can't help it. They're all nutso in the others so I'm guessing D.C. won't be any different.
~~~~~~~

I need a maid. When I get frazzled, my house gets more frazzled looking than normal. I have no desire to clean my house. It takes all the strength and motivation I've got to get the kitchen presentable.

~~~~~~~
If you're married or live with a Significant Other, do you go to bed together every night?
Kyle was bugging me last night because I wasn't going to bed with him. He says I NEVER go to bed with him but I do. Just not every night. He said he wanted to cuddle. I call BS. He's not a cuddler.
~~~~~~~

Milo is sleeping on my lap right now. He NEVER does that. Awww.

~~~~~~~
I have a review/giveaway to do, but it requires me to make something and I just haven't found the time to do that yet. Hopefully I can do that soon because I really AM excited about the giveaway. I think it's a fun one. Cross your fingers!!
~~~~~~~

Kailani says: In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

My question is:

What is your favorite tv show right now?

You Look LIke A Lobster!

You know when you're young and stupid vibrant and want to be just like all of your other friends? You do things that you wouldn't necessarily do if you hadn't been influenced by those around you, right?

Let me tell you about a time when I was young and stupid vibrant and I decided to go with the crowd.

One summer when I was about 15, our youth group from church went up to some property that had a lake and a pool. It was a quiet little community with "cabins" aka travel trailers that didn't go anywhere and had porches and roofs built around them.

On one particular day, my friends and I decided that we were going to go swimming in the pool and lay out and catch some rays.

We get all of our stuff set up, we have our water and our towels are laid out. I've got my sunscreen and my friends have their oil.

There is a reason I had sunscreen with me. I don't tan. I fry.

But because I was young and stupid vibrant, I decided that it'd be fun to try the oil instead of my sunscreen.

I went swimming and I laid out with my friends and the sun was beating down and it was HOT.

I don't know how long we were there. A few hours probably. Sometime during the afternoon, I also fell asleep for a little while.

When we were done sitting by the pool, we went and did other things.

As the day wore on, my back became increasingly sensitive.

By the evening I wanted to strip off my clothes and walk around nekkid because I had THE WORST SUNBURN EVER. Pretty sure my back wanted to become one big blister!

I've never used OIL again, on my body.

I didn't really understand the appeal then and I certainly don't understand the appeal now.

Why would anyone choose to fry their body?! IT HURTS!!

What was the worst sunburn YOU ever had?

Wordlessful Wednesday: Aquafest

This last weekend Kyle and I made our way into Lake Stevens, the town, not the lake. We've lived in Lake Stevens for almost five years and we have never gone to the annual event in downtown Lake Stevens called Aquafest. We figured this year would be a good time to give it a try since we were actually in town {in the past, we've been camping or something}.

We got down there right about the time the parade started so we had to turn around and we were lucky enough to find street parking not too far from all the action. And thankfully, the sun has decided to make an appearance the past week or so. It was in the 80's on Saturday. My shoulders are proving that there was sun since they got burnt.

Some of our neighbors were there so we talked with them for a bit and we just walked around. Didn't really stop at the booths. Just regular stuff that's at street fairs.

Of course, there was all of the horribly bad food that we had to indulge in. And the lava layered smoothies and the elephant ears. All that stuff that's a requirement for these sort of things, ya know?

There was a band playing in the park that we stopped and watched for a little bit. While we were sitting there, this little boy came and sat next to me. He just kept scooting closer to me and was trying to sit just like me. It was adorable! Then he got up and went and played with some other kids.

Kyle really wanted to go down to the dock to watch the wake-board competition so we did that for a little bit, too.

While we were down there, I looked over and saw this:

Do you see what I see? If not, make it larger by clicking it.

How would you like to have a ferris wheel in your back {front?} yard for an entire weekend? LOL I thought it was pretty funny!

ETA: I think I confused some people with the above picture. Let me explain. Downtown Lake Stevens is TINY. There's not a lot of room so they cram all of these booths and carnival rides into all the nooks and crannies they can find. The ferris wheel just happened to be right behind {in front of?} one of the houses that lines the lake and all the rides lined that street. These people didn't just rent the thing for the weekend. LOL Hope that clears that up. =)

We were there for a few hours and when we'd had enough of the sun, we made our way back to the car, went home for a couple of hours and then headed to the inlaw's to eat the salmon that my FIL had caught the day before. It was a good day!

I Needed A Cupcake. Badly.

Last week I was having a craving. A craving that would not go away.

Have you watched that new show DC Cupcakes on TLC? Mmmm. Cupcakes. Love it.

After watching that show, I've wanted a cupcake. Then someone on Twitter mentioned looking into getting some shipped to her. So I went to see how much it would be to ship some to ME. Uh, $55. Not. Gonna. Happen.

Then I was on a hunt. I. NEEDED. A. CUPCAKE.

One of the girls I went to high school with has been a pastry chef for years as well as a caterer and baker. She was going to be opening a CUPCAKE SHOP, but missed a minor detail of needing to have the health department come in and take a look around, so that was delayed. I was all over her Facebook page trying to figure out if she was open yet since her original open date was going to be June 10th. What I found was that the health department was going to be visiting her the next day. So, she was out.

In a desperate attempt to find a LOCAL cupcake shop, I started googling. I knew they had to be around but I couldn't think of any off the top of my head. Then. THEN, I found one. I could either go to Seattle or Bellevue. Bellevue is more convenient and easier to get around.

I sent my friend Megan a text and told her that I had an idea that included cupcakes. But she had a migraine and her daughter had a friend over. So that put a ca-bosh on THAT idea.

I couldn't believe how badly I had talked myself into needing a cupcake. {Can we say P.M.S.?}

Even though my sister and I don't see each other a lot, we still have fun when we're together so I decided to text her and see what she was doing. Turns out that she couldn't go either, BUT she said she could the next day. So I said alright. We planned for me to meet her at her house in the morning and her and the boys and I would all head to Bellevue to Trophy Cupcakes.

And that's what we did.

When we got there we couldn't figure out where we were supposed to park. It's a fairly new building that neither Dawn or I had ever been to so we asked the valet where we should park. He said that if we were just going to be a few minutes we could park right there in the round-about {otherwise it would've been a few streets away unless we wanted to pay $11 across the street. I think not}. SO NICE of him!! We had to make it a quick trip in and out or else I would've taken some pictures of how frickin adorable this place was. The boys didn't know where we were going ahead of time so it was a fun surprise for them, too.

We had also planned on going down to a park, but it was SO COLD and windy that we just couldn't do it. We did end up going to another beachy area, but we stayed in the car most of the time.

After that little adventure, we headed home and my craving was satisfied AND I had some for the road, since Dawn and I split a dozen. We had to bring some home for the men in our lives, too, cuz we're nice like that.

Have you ever had a craving that you just HAD to satisfy? What was it?

Worship and Praise Sunday: You Deliver Me

You Deliver Me
Selah

Deep as the ocean
Right as rain
This powerful emotion
lifts me up above the plain
It's taking me to places
I never thought I'd go
Showing me a grace
I never thought I'd know

When I feel like I can't go on
You deliver me
And when the road is winding
And way too long
You deliver me
You deliver me

I feel like a sinner
Whose sins have been washed clean
An absolute beginner
Whose heart has never seen
I must be forgiven
For sometimes asking why
I was chosen to be given
You in this life

When I feel like I can't go on
You deliver me
And when the road is winding
And way too long
You deliver me
You deliver me

When there's a distance
Between what I am
And who I wanna be
You deliver me

When I feel like I can't go on
You deliver me
And when the road is winding
And way too long
You deliver me
You deliver me

When I feel like I can't go on
You deliver me
And when the road is winding
And way too long
You deliver me
You deliver me

~~~~~~~~
Last night I fell asleep on the couch {not unusual} but I guess Kyle tried to get me to go to bed but it's a lost cause when I'm that deep asleep. Instead of turning off the tv, he turned the channel to our local Christian radio station and let me just continue to sleep. Some time in the night, as the music was playing, a song came on that I dreamt I was going to use for my Worship and Praise song. I can't remember exactly which one it was, but I THINK it was the song I'm Letting Go by Francesca Battistelli, which is a great song but that I've already used before. While I was trying to jog my memory, I went to the radio stations song log from the early hours of this morning and I found this song, You Deliver Me, from around 3 am. It, too, is a great song and in a way they have a similar message so I wanted to share it today.
I love the chorus:
When I feel like I can't go on
You deliver me
And when the road is winding
And way too long
You deliver me
You deliver me
I hope this song speaks to you like it has to me.
Have a blessed Sunday!
~~~~~~~~

Jen at Following the Footsteps will be back next week so be sure to go and visit her for more Worship & Praise Sunday songs.

In the mean time, link up your Worship and Praise songs today so we can all go and visit you!!

Fourth of July Weekend, Part 1

Better late then never, right? lol Just call me "Slacker".

Do you remember this incident? The one with the boat landing where it shouldn't have, like I dunno, in the street?

Well, since then, the boat has been all fixed up and Kyle's been itching to get it in the water. Fourth of July weekend happened to be the weekend that it happened, RIGHT after the final part arrived in the mail. Kyle headed over to his parents a couple of days before and he and his dad put the rutter on, I believe.

As we were driving up to Lake Goodwin on July 3rd, Kyle asked me if I was going to be able to drive the trailer around the lake, after the boat was in the water. Thankfully his dad was there to help him get it IN the water because I don't know if I'd have been able to do that! But I did drive the car with the trailer attached. It was just a bit nerve-wracking with all of the noise it made. Kept making me think something was going to fall off. LOL

Anywho, Kyle and my FIL drove their boats across the water to our friends dock and my MIL and I drove the vehicles with the trailers to the property. We successfully got there and parked without incident.

Then we got everything we needed into the boats and we were going to hang out for the afternoon. We take the boats up the day before the 4th because the public boat launch is a nightmare if you try to get in / out of there ON the 4th. Thankfully our friends let us dock at their property and the boats stayed there till Monday.

After we were ready to head out, we went to the south end of the lake and tied the boats together. It was fine except for when other boats and jet-skiers went by causing the boats to rock. Thankfully we had buoys to keep the boats from knocking.

You'll notice I'm wearing a coat, long sleeves and look cold. That's because it WAS cold!! The sun did come out, but it most definitely was NOT warm!!

My inlaws always bring a cooler of food and drinks on the boat so here my MIL was making the guys lunch. LOL

Heehee I LOVE it when Chewy does this. I think it's hilarious. When he sees something interesting and he's really concentrating, his lip goes up. A lot of times both sides do it.

Our boat is from the 70's and it's been about 5-6 years since it's been in the water. There was some water leaking in around the engine area so Kyle and his dad were keeping an eye on it. There's a sump-pump down there so Kyle would manually get it working off and on throughout the weekend. It's obviously nothing that's keeping the boat from floating, but it will need to be looked into further.

This is on our friends dock. I can't say I've ever seen any nude bather's around these parts, but I think it's too funny that they've got this sign. It's been there forever. Did I mention I've been going up to this property since I was in junior high, I think? With church we used to have youth events up there in the summer where we'd all bring tents and camp out and have lots of fun on the lake.

This would be the wind-blown look. Sexy, right? Haha!

Kyle got his water balloon launcher all working just how he wanted and Chewy was helping him with the water balloons.

Putting air in it, getting it ready to launch.

That was day one of our 4th of July weekend. The rest will be coming "soon".

Things To Do In Western Washington

Today is Day 2 of the 31 Days to Build a Better Blog challenge with the SITS Girls. I decided that I'm not necessarily going to post Day 1, Day 2, etc because it won't always be relevant, but I'll post about the days that are. If you want more information on what this challenge is about, find out about it here.

Because I love this gorgeous state that I live in, I thought it'd be fun to give you a list of some of the entertaining things to do around the area, should you ever decide to visit me, which you should!!

Head on down to Seattle and go to Pike Place Market. Be sure to visit the Gum Wall while you're there! It's gross, but you HAVE to see it!! Of course, you can't forget the Space Needle. That's pretty much a must. Go to the very top, especially on a clear day, and you can see for miles and miles and miles!

Visit the Seattle Aquarium. See the ginormous octopus and the cute and adorable sea otters.

Visit the animals at the Woodland Park Zoo or go south to the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.

Take a day-trip up to the San Juan Islands. Go to Friday Harbor, Roche Harbor, Orcas Island, Lopez Island. Just island hop. While you're up there, you might even be lucky enough to see the whales, especially if you go on a whale watching tour!

If you're here at the right time of the year, you can go to the Tulip Fields. The colors are AMAZING. You've never seen anything like it!

During the Fall, go around to the different corn mazes and get lost roaming around. Drink some hot cider to keep you warm.

Take one of the many ferries across the water and explore the little towns like Whidbey Island, Kingston or Bainbridge Island.

Go berry picking or to a strawberry or blueberry festival.

Take a trip up to Snoqulamie Falls. It is a sight to behold. Hike down to the water and jump around on the rocks and get the mist from the falls on your face. Perfect on a nice, hot day!

If you really enjoy the outdoors and love to be in nature, definitely go hiking in one of the bazillion different areas. Washington is definitely known for its mountains!!

There are so many enjoyable things to do in Washington that you'll never be at a loss for adventure!

If you're looking for some more kid friendly things to do in the area, this is a great article to look at as well.

Yoga4Fertility {Review and Giveaway}

***The giveaway is now closed. Thank you to everyone that entered!!***

Do you recognize this lady?

This is Brenda Strong, you know, the voice of Mary Alice Young on Desperate Housewives {one of my FAVORITE shows}?

Did you know that Brenda suffered from infertility?

Yeah, neither did I.

But she did and because of her struggles, she created a line of different yoga videos and products to help with infertility.

From the website Yoga4Fertilty.com:

fertility

Strong Yoga4FertilityTM

Strong Yoga4FertilityTM is a proprietary approach to teaching yoga for fertility created by Brenda Strong. This program uses the ancient healing wisdom of yoga and applies it to the modern problem of reproductive difficulty. Using the specific postures and breathing techniques to open the body from the inside out, Strong Yoga4FertilityTM helps to release tightness in muscle and connective tissue, increase blood flow to reproductive organs and invites the mind and body to facilitate its own healing capacity. Brenda has combined yoga asana, visualization, meditation, pranayama, qi gong and bioenergetics to help support the reproductive organs and increase a woman's connection to the "divine feminine" while decreasing stress.

When I was contacted and asked if I'd like to try this out, I thought "Sure, why not. I've got nothing to lose. I'll take anything that could possibly help me on this journey."

Let me just tell you that 1. I have not worked out in a LONG time. Which is sad since I was so into it not all that long ago and 2. I've never really done yoga. Nothing against it, just has never been my thang.

I got the DVD, though, and I popped it into the DVD player and got myself all situated on the floor with my mat. When Brenda first came on, she was sitting on a nice, cushy looking couch talking in a soft voice and telling me what I was going to be doing. I have to admit, it was a bit cheesy. I almost fast forwarded it, but thought I'd better at least listen to what she had to say since it might be beneficial. It was informative.

After a few minutes of her talking, she was suddenly in a luscious yard on a yoga mat starting all the different yoga poses. Because I'd never done it before, I had a hard time concentrating on being relaxed and also paying attention to what she was doing.

Another thing I have to admit. It was a bit too long for me. It's about an hour long I think and I'm just not very good at sitting / laying still for that long. While I did eventually find it relaxing, I know I couldn't do this every day.

While I don't think this yoga stuff is going to get me pregnant, I'll take all the help I can get. This was a fun and relaxing {after I got some of it down} way to enjoy some exercise and laugh at myself while doing so.

Guess what? I'm not the only one that gets to try this out. One of you does too. And even if you don't think you want this, maybe there is someone in your life that you think would benefit from it. Everybody loves gifts, right? =)

Today is Day 1 and we're supposed to write an Elevator Pitch for our blog.

Mine is sort of similar to my 'About Me':

Worship and Praise Sunday: When I Look Into Your Holiness

When I Look Into Your Holiness
Wayne Perrin, Cathy Perrin

When I look into Your holiness
When I gaze into Your loveliness
When all things that surround become shadows
In the light of You

When I've found the joy of reaching Your heart
When my will become enthroned in Your love
When all things that surround become shadows
In the light of You

I worship You I worship Your
The reason I live is to worship You

~~~~~~~~
This is another one of those old school worship songs I'm so fond of. This one is from 1981. My mom and dad used to sing in a small group. I remember them meeting in one of the couples homes and we'd play with their kids while they rehearsed. They made a couple of cassette tapes and this song was one of the ones they sang. I've always loved it.
~~~~~~~~

Please join in and link up with your own Worship and Praise song.

Have a blessed Sunday!
