We got down there right about the time the parade started so we had to turn around and we were lucky enough to find street parking not too far from all the action. And thankfully, the sun has decided to make an appearance the past week or so. It was in the 80's on Saturday. My shoulders are proving that there was sun since they got burnt.
Some of our neighbors were there so we talked with them for a bit and we just walked around. Didn't really stop at the booths. Just regular stuff that's at street fairs.
Of course, there was all of the horribly bad food that we had to indulge in. And the lava layered smoothies and the elephant ears. All that stuff that's a requirement for these sort of things, ya know?
There was a band playing in the park that we stopped and watched for a little bit. While we were sitting there, this little boy came and sat next to me. He just kept scooting closer to me and was trying to sit just like me. It was adorable! Then he got up and went and played with some other kids.
Kyle really wanted to go down to the dock to watch the wake-board competition so we did that for a little bit, too.
While we were down there, I looked over and saw this:
Do you see what I see? If not, make it larger by clicking it.How would you like to have a ferris wheel in your back {front?} yard for an entire weekend? LOL I thought it was pretty funny!
ETA: I think I confused some people with the above picture. Let me explain. Downtown Lake Stevens is TINY. There's not a lot of room so they cram all of these booths and carnival rides into all the nooks and crannies they can find. The ferris wheel just happened to be right behind {in front of?} one of the houses that lines the lake and all the rides lined that street. These people didn't just rent the thing for the weekend. LOL Hope that clears that up. =)
We were there for a few hours and when we'd had enough of the sun, we made our way back to the car, went home for a couple of hours and then headed to the inlaw's to eat the salmon that my FIL had caught the day before. It was a good day!

I went wow when i read your banner. Want to be a father here but owing to some circumstances, I cant too. I understnad the frustration, if i may even be allowed to say tt. Thanks for reminding me to live life to the full.
What a great surprise to see those tents and Ferris-wheel. Must have been a family reunion you think. I would love one like that..Oh the kids had have so much fun indeed.
My WW link for you
Can you imagine how much they must have spent on that ferris wheel? OMG!!!
I love how all the towns have fun little summer festivals up here. There is never a shortage of things to do each weekend. And thank heavens that the sun finally showed up... it is about freakin' time!
My kids would LOVE a ferris wheel in their back yard!! LOL Thanks for the clarification...but I was actually thinking they just owned it in their yard and then you said "for the weekend"...made me realize they were the unlucky plot owners of the carnival location. :)
Happy Wednesday.
Please forgive my ignorance, but the line about the lava layered smoothies and elephant ears has me baffled. Are elephant ears the kind of heart-shaped crispy pastry with sugar on it, or are elephant ears plants actually edible?
I've recently learned to enjoy the simple things like outdoor concerts and street fairs where the atmosphere is the main attraction and you can spend as much or as little money as you want. Nice pics as usual.
What fun - and such a beautiful day for you to go!!
Great photos. Too funny about the ferris wheel!
Warmed up to the 80s??!! We barely get in the 80s overnight!
That seriously looks like such a fun day... And I think I would be totally tickled to have a ferris wheel in my yard! Not that I would ride it (I am seriously afraid of rides!) but it would be fun just having it there! :)
Sounds like a blissfully decadent day! I love those street fairs even if I end up with heartburn at the end of the day from all the fried foods, but well worth it!
