Have you watched that new show DC Cupcakes on TLC? Mmmm. Cupcakes. Love it.
After watching that show, I've wanted a cupcake. Then someone on Twitter mentioned looking into getting some shipped to her. So I went to see how much it would be to ship some to ME. Uh, $55. Not. Gonna. Happen.
Then I was on a hunt. I. NEEDED. A. CUPCAKE.
One of the girls I went to high school with has been a pastry chef for years as well as a caterer and baker. She was going to be opening a CUPCAKE SHOP, but missed a minor detail of needing to have the health department come in and take a look around, so that was delayed. I was all over her Facebook page trying to figure out if she was open yet since her original open date was going to be June 10th. What I found was that the health department was going to be visiting her the next day. So, she was out.
In a desperate attempt to find a LOCAL cupcake shop, I started googling. I knew they had to be around but I couldn't think of any off the top of my head. Then. THEN, I found one. I could either go to Seattle or Bellevue. Bellevue is more convenient and easier to get around.
I sent my friend Megan a text and told her that I had an idea that included cupcakes. But she had a migraine and her daughter had a friend over. So that put a ca-bosh on THAT idea.
I couldn't believe how badly I had talked myself into needing a cupcake. {Can we say P.M.S.?}
Even though my sister and I don't see each other a lot, we still have fun when we're together so I decided to text her and see what she was doing. Turns out that she couldn't go either, BUT she said she could the next day. So I said alright. We planned for me to meet her at her house in the morning and her and the boys and I would all head to Bellevue to Trophy Cupcakes.
And that's what we did.

When we got there we couldn't figure out where we were supposed to park. It's a fairly new building that neither Dawn or I had ever been to so we asked the valet where we should park. He said that if we were just going to be a few minutes we could park right there in the round-about {otherwise it would've been a few streets away unless we wanted to pay $11 across the street. I think not}. SO NICE of him!! We had to make it a quick trip in and out or else I would've taken some pictures of how frickin adorable this place was. The boys didn't know where we were going ahead of time so it was a fun surprise for them, too.
We had also planned on going down to a park, but it was SO COLD and windy that we just couldn't do it. We did end up going to another beachy area, but we stayed in the car most of the time.

After that little adventure, we headed home and my craving was satisfied AND I had some for the road, since Dawn and I split a dozen. We had to bring some home for the men in our lives, too, cuz we're nice like that.

Have you ever had a craving that you just HAD to satisfy? What was it?

Well I was doing ok until I saw this variety box of cupcakes!!!!!
First of all, I love that show - and just saw it for the first time this weekend, but I saw a bunch of episodes. I don't know if it was a marathon or what. We have a place called Kupcakz that is yummy.
I have had a craving for chocolate before that I was the same way about. I feel your craving pain. I HAD to have some. (-:

This post made me laugh so hard! My kids and I got the cupcake craving a few days ago. It was so bad that we bought pre-mades from the bakery AND mix with frosting to make more at home! lol!
Your cupcakes look so yummy! Great photos too!
yum! you need to come to nashville and meet me so i can introduce you to gigi's. omgosh...icing as tall or taller than the cupcake!
How fun! I've never watched DC Cupcakes, but I have seen Cupcake Wars. I think it's so cute how cupcakes are now a thing that can take up an entire shop :)
Oh and I'm not sure if you follow her or not, but in the spirit of cupcakes I had to share this with you http://insidebrucrewlife.blogspot.com/2010/07/cupcake-madness-for-tyt.html
What a fun outing! I don't like cake (or cupcakes), but I kind of wish I did because they're SO DAMN CUTE! I do crave pie, though. Mmmmmm, piiiiiiie.
I have "needed a cupcake" badly for months now... thanks for sharing YOURS with us!
OH.MY.HECK!! Now I need a cupcake too. Those look so delicious! The cupcake in the bottom left of your take-home box looks like chocolate with peanut butter frosting. If you are into that combo, here is a good recipe to check out:http://bunsinmyoven.com/2010/02/16/chocolate-cupcakes-with-peanut-butter-frosting/
I have made them a couple of times and they are divine!!
Megan. I think I just finally got over my cupcake obsession.
Seriously, there are 3 cupcake shops right where I moved to and I went there almost every day for a month.
A month!
I know exactly what you're talking about!!!
Yumm! Those look so good! I especially like the look of the one with the flower frosting.
We have a really good local shop that has the BEST cupcake icing ever- not greasy and not too sweet. I did knock-off frosting duplicate for it and published it on my blog a couple months back. It makes homemade cupcakes taste like the pro ones. You could always try it NEXT time that craving hits!
I get cravings for lots of different stuff. There is a local Mexican food place that has a Creamy Tomatillo Salad Dressing for their fajita salads that I could just DRINK!
OMG! Those cupcakes look SO good!!! I'm seriously drooling! Now I've got to hunt some cupcakes (gluten-free of course!).
Thanks for visiting my blog! I will now be following your blog! As a fellow infertile myrtle, we've got to stick together!
Love that show!! I work right up the road (10 min) from a Sprinkles and am a fan on FB...they have a secret phrase everyday and the first so many people to whisper it get FREE cupcakes...it's a daily challenge to NOT run down there!! The times that I give in are for the Mocha ones.
I love that show! I was just catching up on the last two episodes today and have been thinking about cupcakes ever since!
Cute cupcakes! Oo, makes me want to make a cupcake scented candle, lol!
*is wondering whether I can put "icing" on a candle, haha*
Just found your blog randomly and am hooked! Following :)

2 months ago i craved everything LEMON.....so i made some lemon cupcakes and lemon jello and lemon pudding and lemon cookies....it was horrible....that i craved lemon and i don't really even care for lemon. Now i keep a box of lemon jello and box of lemon cake mix (mix in some 7up and vanilla) just in case that craving ever comes back....lol. Great, now that i saw those cupcakes....i think i want a cupcake....oh and i love that show!!
I saw that show too! I used to get cravings for ice cream and make my hubs go get me some. These days I actually crave fruit and thats a good bonus for trying to lose weight
Oh yeah...cupcakes ::::drools:::
Did you mention cupcakes?!? Cupcake confessions: I've spent close to $100 to have cupcakes delivered. Ever heard of Crumbs Cupcakes? Google them. Second confession, I've driven over 1.5 hours to get Sprinkles red velvet cupcakes. So yes, I know the feeling of wanting a cupcaked
Megan, here's a link to my frosting recipe. I just made it last night for a carrot cake. Yum!
