HeldNatalie Grant
Two months is too little.
They let him go.
They had no sudden healing.
To think that providence would
Take a child from his mother while she prays
Is appalling.
Who told us we’d be rescued?
What has changed and why should we be saved from nightmares?
We’re asking why this happens
To us who have died to live?
It’s unfair.
Chorus:
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell we’d be held.
This hand is bitterness.
We want to taste it, let the hatred NUMB our sorrow.
The wise hands opens slowly to lilies of the valley and tomorrow.
(Chorus)
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell we’d be held.
Bridge:
If hope is born of suffering.
If this is only the beginning.
Can we not wait for one hour watching for our Savior?
(Chorus)
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell we’d be held.
She used to babysit Kyle. Can you believe that? Crazy, huh!?
When we (Kyle and I) were in junior high and high school, we were in a church youth choir together, with Natalie, called Destiny. She always had the solos. Figures. Haha!
She also "borrowed" a pair of my earrings. I never got them back. Not that I cared. LOL They were 80's earrings that were handed down to me from my mom. We were on choir tour and she had forgotten her earrings so I had a few for her to choose from. Lucky her. What would she have done without me?!
Anyway, I chose this nontraditional "praise and worship" song because I recently found out what she was singing about. Up until a couple weeks ago, it was a bit of a mystery.
My mother-in-law was recently talking with Natalie's dad (they all still go to the same church we grew up in) and asked him what this song was about because she had been curious since you can't really tell. He said it's about her miscarriages that she's had over the years.
Ah-ha! Makes a lot more sense now!
Thankfully I have never experienced a miscarriage, but I know that so many of you have. I thought it might bring you some comfort to hear this song and know what she was actually singing about.
And if you go to her website, you can see pictures of her adorable twin girls, Gracie and Bella. They're almost two!

After a couple of weeks the wife asked, "Honey, have you ever noticed that she only goes up to people with boom boxes and other electronic devices?"
Well, the plan went off without a hitch, and the wife was almost hopping up and down with anticipation when she saw the girl talk to her husband and then leave. The man walked up the beach and met his wife at the road.
