My friend picked me up and we went to the Women's Ministry kickoff at church last night. She introduced me to the women that she knew and I introduced and offered a handshake to a couple of ladies all on my own. While I didn't meet as many ladies as I could have, I did have my sidekick there to make me feel more at ease, and I did meet a few people. {Not that I remember any of their names, though!}
And we signed up for a Wednesday morning Bible study. I have never been part of an actual real women's Bible study so this will definitely be a new experience! It starts in October, I believe. I also signed up to be notified of the game nights and to be part of the Food Ministry {bringing meals to those that need them...they only call each person once or twice a year}.
Then, instead of mingling some more, Laura and I sat and had a nice chat, which we haven't been able to do in quite awhile, so that was great just to catch up with her.
All in all, I'm glad I went, but I still don't know if I'd have been able to do it alone. :0P Baby steps, right?
{I'm waiting for my cousin to send me pictures from my birthday and then I'll update you all on how it went.}

Little Johnny was in church with his mom for Sunday Mass when he felt a sudden barf attack impending. "Mom, I think I'm going to throw up!" She told him, "I want you to run outside as fast as you can. Run across the lawn and go behind the bushes. You can throw up behind the bushes and nobody will see you." So Little Johnny hauled butt
for the door. Less than a minute later, he returned to his seat next to his mom. He had the look of obvious relief on his young face. "Did you make it all the way to the bushes, Johnny?"
"I didn't have to go that far, mom. Just as I got to the front door, I found a box that had a sign on it: FOR THE SICK."
The following Sunday, as he prepared to deliver his sermon, the minister asked for a show of hands. He wanted to know how many had read Mark 17. Every hand went up. The minister smiled and said, "Mark has only sixteen chapters. I will now proceed with my sermon on the sin of lying."
While she was running and praying, she tripped on a curb and fell, getting her clothes dirty and tearing her dress. She got up, brushed herself off, and started running again. As she ran she once again began to pray, "Dear Lord, please don't let me be late...But please don't shove me either!"

Three boys are in the schoolyard bragging about their fathers. The first boy says, "My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a poem, they give him $50."
The second boy says, "That's nothing. My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a song, they give him $100."
The third boy says, "I got you both beat. My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a sermon. And it takes eight people to collect all the money!"

A Sunday School teacher asked her class why Joseph and Mary took Jesus with them to Jerusalem.
A small child replied: "They couldn't get a baby sitter."

See, all that worrying for nothing. You did so well. Next time you might be able to do it on your own.
I did a women's bible study a few times and I really enjoyed it.
I loved the jokes. They woke me up a little bit this morning because they made me laugh.
Sometimes the advice
isn’t worth heeding, but yours—
ah, what a blessing!

Happy 6WS!!
You will be blessed, I'm sure. I admire your courage for stepping out of your comfort zone. I need to do that too. Have a great SWS!
Good for you, taking those first important steps.
ps Thanks for sharing the little stories today. Made me smile :)
Happy Saturday!
Personally, I'm a big fan of baby steps. They're much more productive than no steps at all.
Have a good weekend! ;-)
yay! i'm all for the baby steps :)
love the jokes! so cute!
Sounds like things went really well! You have to learn how to walk before you can run. I'm sure the next meeting, you'll feel much more comfortable, now that you've met a few ladies. And the morning Bible study will help you get to know even more women.
Loved the stories, especially the little girl asking God not to shove her, lol.
